I didn't get out of the house until the afternoon. This may have been connected to [livejournal.com profile] cattitude being under the weather, but mostly it was me.

Nonetheless, I did get out and about. Bought a new monthly Metrocard (and used it five times today: if I keep this up, 'twill be well worth the money). Lunch in Chinatown: got off the subway at Grand Street, nothing right there looked promising, and when I glanced south I saw the Manhattan Bridge. That means Canal and Bowery, which I decided meant congee at New York Noodletown. Specifically, the "sliver duck congee", which has roast duck, scallions, and fresh ginger.

Then I went out to Brooklyn. This time of year, Sahadi is busy even on a Tuesday afternoon, but not unreasonably so. They were out of both grissini and tomato paste, but we now have basmati rice, cinnamon, blackberry preserves, and more chocolate.

Back into the city, where I got the missing nose pad on my glasses replaced. The woman actually replaced both pads, so that they'd be the same color. I also picked up a new pair of sunglasses. Since it was going to take a little while, she suggested that I might want to run an errand while she was working on my glasses. Thus, I now have [livejournal.com profile] zorinth's holiday gift.

Feeling ambitious, I went to the gym. It was an odd-shaped workout, in part because I was choosing exercises, and equipment, to be easy on sore hands and wrists, and my feet were feeling a bit sore: I started with five minutes of cardio bike, just for warm-up. Thence to the weight room:

Leg press, 230 pounds, 2 sets of 10. (Try 240 next time, or increase reps?)
Calf machine, 70 pounds, 3 sets of 12
Tricep pulldown, 45 pounds, 2 sets of 15

Crunches, 11. It wasn't clicking, and I was having an odd pain in some abdominal muscle. Probably the same one that's been hurting at odd moments after I laugh or sneeze while lying down.

I then went over to the Xpressline (not then running) to use the machines: I didn't want to risk dropping a 40-pound barbell on the floor, let alone on me:

Lat pulldown, 105 pounds, 8
Shoulder/overhead press, 40 pounds, 10
Chest press, 40 pounds, 12
Bicep curl, 40 pounds, 4: at that point my left wrist hurt, so I stopped.

I realized two hours later that I'd forgotten the stretch machine, and did a few stretches for my calf against a stone wall at the edge of Inwood Hill Park.

By the time I left the gym, my feet were feeling very tender. Between that and the amount I was already carrying, I didn't stop at the grocery store, so we had hard-boiled eggs and pita (the latter left from Saturday's outing) for supper tonight. Breakfast tomorrow will be an interesting problem: since I have the same breakfast every day, and Cattitude rarely has breakfast at all, we don't have alternative breakfast food, and I finished the yogurt this morning.
