I'm trying to do something--something other than noodling around with nethack and such--every day. Today's is that I updated the HTML version of the rassef faq for my homepage; it was months behind the posted version. Not a big thing, but something accomplished.

The job hunt is frustrating, because I pull up the classifieds in the local papers, and there's little worth even applying for.

Anyone need an editor who knows some unix? Or a unix sysadmin who reads carefully and can update your documentation in between crises?

The glacial slowness of HR departments can be incredibly hard to deal with when you're unemployed. You've got your resume in at lots of good companies. The fact that they haven't called you yet doesn't mean they don't want you - it can take weeks, more than a month, for them to process things and get around to calling you for an interview. Try to remember that wheels are turning for you, even if you're not doing anything concrete to help your job search every day. Waiting is.

(I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. Good luck, and hang in there.)
