Because of the recent slowness and other problems, LJ is giving extra time to people with paid accounts. People who just bought can get two months. If you didn't just buy your account, but had a paid account any time in June, you can get an extra two weeks here. If you're logged in when you go there, it'll look up what, if anything, you're entitled to.

I'm coming to realise that having a permanent account is lovely until it comes time to apologise for severe problems, at which point I and the 3,9999 or so others are shoo'd away because, well we have unlimited free time, it says. Which will be true in a couple of years time, when my payment is effectively 'used up'. Er, yes, but I also spent two weeks with fucked-up service and a special all-singing, all-dancing, lights flashing apology message, thanking me for my generous support to LJ, might have assuaged my irritation a little more than that bland message.
