I don't believe in lying to people to get them to leave me alone about my eating. It's not so much that doing so affects the credibility of people with real allergies as it is that it says that my reasons are anybody else's business and are open to discussion and negotiation. They're not. I eat what I eat. If I refuse to eat spinach because I had a dream once that there was a civilization of little green people living in the leaves, that's my business. — [livejournal.com profile] thenisaid

Ye-es... But when served spinach, it is still bad manners to say "Oh, spinach, I can't eat that," and after the meal remark on the lack of vegetables. Especially if I've seen you eat spinach earlier that week.

*nods* I hate celery. I generally just explain this by telling people that it's Evil.
