I just spoke to Alda—as far as I can tell, she called as soon as she saw my email and had the phone number (which she could have gotten from Carol, but never mind), without even looking at my resume. The work seems plausible, and it seems likely that I'll get it.

Basically, they'd be emailing me PDFs, for me to fax back (which means going to the friendly stationery shop over on Broadway). There would be some tight deadlines, and if I get this, I'll tell them when I [know I] will be unavailable (travel, in particular). There might also be some copyediting work in the future, depending on their workload and whether their regular copyeditor is available.

Alda's boss is out today, but she said I'd hear back next week, after she talks to him, and there might be work very soon.

You may want to think about buying one of those little fax machines -- they run under $100 (there's one here> for $80), you can hook them up to your existing phone line since you aren't doing incoming, and you should recover your cost pretty quickly versus the per page cost of commercial faxing. Good luck!

This seems to be a good day for good news: I got a list of jobs from the boss; the boss might have a job for Dafydd doing documentations; a friend had an interview for a job he's lusted after for years.

Here's hoping the good news continues!
