Tomorrow morning I head down to Penn Station, where I'll get an Amtrak train to Montreal. After looking out at Lake Champlain and seeing how much of it is frozen this time, I'll be spending a week with [livejournal.com profile] papersky, [livejournal.com profile] rysmiel, [livejournal.com profile] zorinth, and [livejournal.com profile] fivemack. Environment Canada predicts unusually warm weather--highs above freezing just about every day--so we may get to do more exploring than I was counting on.

This is going to be fun! But first I get to be nervous, as I always am the night before I travel. I have already surprised [livejournal.com profile] cattitude by how much I could fit into my backpack; I just need to assemble a picnic breakfast and lunch for the train, and pack the last few items (things, like toothpaste, that I will need before I leave).

Have fun! I love Montreal, it's such a beautiful old city and the underground mall is fabulous. Are you going to be staying in the city itself?
