I wrote this as a comment to [livejournal.com profile] quility, who is thinking about job interviews and the weird questions interviewers ask:

My biggest flaw is that I can't come up with clever answers to questions rather than telling the truth: I want to provide people with useful information.

Hmm. Risky, but I may have to try it.

When I was a co-op student, I once had an interview for a phantom job (they had lost the funding after scheduling the interviews, but were going through with them in case they got the funding back). I was annoyed about the waste of time (I had several other interviews and it was a busy week).

When that interviewer asked me "what are your weaknesses?" I blurted out "I don't do well in interviews." He said "But you're doing great!" I said "That's because this doesn't count!" I later thought that it was quite a good answer, but never had the nerve to use it premeditatedly.
