If you are uncertain about whether or not to dye your hair, I believe you should not. Drastic changes in hair color is something one should only do if one feels strongly about it.
As for the retail job...having extra money is a good thing. Getting out of the house on a regular basis may or may not be a good thing. But "you'll either quit or be fired for exhaustion and clumsiness," does not strike me as a reason to avoid applying for a job without emotional investment. If you need money and a reason to get out of the house, now, you should take the job. If the store needs help, now, they should hire you. 6 weeks from now, you can decide you don't like it after all, or that it's too tiring. Or the store can decide they don't need as much help, so they fire everyone who isn't devoted and incredibly efficient. *shrug* You're still ahead by some wages, some getting out of the house, and maybe whatever you bought with a store discount.
Your soul seems a lot more durable than anything I've ever seen in a retail store, but you know it a lot better than I do. I agree with previous posters who recommend applying at the sort of store you can respect.
