More last-minute stuff (the previous one worked well):

Can someone recommend a sushi place, preferably near Union Square or on the West Side of Manhattan. This is for me and [livejournal.com profile] cattitude for tomorrow evening. Cooked food is secondary—if they have nice oshinko or gyoza, fine, if not, we're going for the raw fish—and I don't care about the sake selection. The one sushi place that came to mind as "we've tried this and both like it" is in Park Slope, and I'd rather not drag Cattitude out there when he has to work the next morning.

[I just posted a similar query to [livejournal.com profile] nyc_cuisine.]

There’s one on the south side of 17th Street, between Broadway and Fifth Ave. I don’t remember the name.

What was the place [livejournal.com profile] drcpunk and [livejournal.com profile] mnemex going to last night? That one was supposed to be near Union Square, right?

Don't remember the name ([livejournal.com profile] drcpunk would), but it was on 14th and 6th avenue, west side of 6th.

All you can eat sushi, quite good.

Planet Sushi is on Amsterdam and 77th. Stupid name but excellent dragon roll. http://www.psushi.com/sushiplanet/html/index2.htm#
Dave and I went there a lot when we were on Amsterdam and 79th.

The best place in that neighborhood is Japonica. University near 12th St. A little pricey, but FABULOUS.

Edo is quite decent; we used to order in from them consistently. East 17th St., near Broadway.

Hanami opened this summer, on 6th Ave. just south of 14th St. We've switched to ordering from them almost exclusively, as they are both tasty and cheap.

So, a little late to be helpful, but
