We had a roast chicken a few days ago, then [personal profile] adrian_turtle used some of the leftovers to make a salad with greens, pieces of chicken, and grapes. [personal profile] cattitude just turned the remaining leftover chicken into matzo ball soup.

There will be homemade chocolate cake later, because Adrian wanted to check whether the springform pan would hold cake batter. We eat well around here.

I really need to remember to combine chicken and grapes. Such a god combo and it makes me think of Classical Rome.

I have finally given up on trying to mix this kind of salad before serving, because everything else just gets lost in the greens and falls to the bottom of the mixing bowl. I just dress the greens* and arrange them with the chicken and grapes. I would have preferred to sprinkle something something crunchy on top (slivered almonds? roasted sunflower seeds?) but didn't have time.

*Rehydrate Penzeys "Sunny Paris" blend in a spoonful of water. (It's coarsely chopped dried shallot with dill and tarragon, plus a few other things.) Add cider vinegar, coarse-grained mustard, and drizzle in olive oil until it be enough.
