The movers/handymen just left, after putting up three sets of curtain rods, with curtains. This required help because of the extremely high ceilings. Cattitude can use a ladder to change lightbulbs, but this was a two-person task.

They also brought three bookcases back with them, and Adrian, who was at the storage unit supervising, came home in a Lyft with a few more boxes and bags. One of those was the backpack I'd bought in Seattle, hadn't seen in years, and vaguely thought had been lost in transit somewhere.

We had slightly misjudged the space where we were going to put one of the bookcases, so we had the guys put that bookcase out of the way while they hung the curtains. While they did that, we unloaded a slightly narrower (and lighter) bookcase, put it in the just-too-narrow space where we'd thought the other would fit, and had the movers put the "new" bookcase where that one had been. Cattitude has now finished shimming the just-moved bookcases, and Adrian is taking the opportunity to sort books.

That sounds like a very annoying interlude! I'm glad it's over and the cats forgave you.

Are you all feeling accomplished ? Is that the right word?

Getting the backpack back sounds very satisfying! Along with having your bookcases and curtains up.

I am feeling downright triumphant about that backpack! A box of books had been crushing a lighter box beneath it. So I heaved the box of books off the top of the stack, and opened the crushed box. Clothes! Cattitude has been grumping that Lands End shirts are made of stiffer cotton than they used to be, and here's a shirt he bought 10 years ago and didn't even open the packages. I stuffed as much as I could into my shopping bag and hurried after the movers, only to discover they couldn't give me a ride home.

I was going to take the T home, but did not feel up to navigating both unfamiliar connections with my hands full. And as long as I was going to take a Lyft, I might as well bring a few more boxes (though not heavy ones), and thus did I discover the purple backpack in the bottom of the crushed box. When I do my own packing, I put clothes inside luggage and label it something like "winter clothes," in the unlikely event it gets a label at all. When professionals pack, they put clothes and boots and luggage and other stuff all together in a box and label it something like "hall closet."

Enjoy your triumph! I love that moment of "There it is!" Almost makes up for the ongoing frustration of, "Where the heck is it?!" And yeah, I pack and label very carefully. Having someone else pack my stuff would be seriously disorienting.
