oursin posted her now-traditional seasonal gifts for her readers, donations for things including socks, gifts to Puffin Aid, and teaching people to read.
I know this won't satisfy everyone who asks that question, but it seems worth bearing in mind. A stuffed animal with a note that $X was donated to the Bronx Zoo in my name is appealing.
