morning errands

I got up a little early today, had some yogurt, and took the T a few stops to pick up a prescription. I had to wait about ten minutes, having arrived at the CVS a few minutes before the pharmacy was scheduled to open; it actually opened a little after 9 a.m. I did not appreciate receiving automated reminders to pick up the prescription, while standing in front of the closed pharmacy window, after it was scheduled to open; the PA telling me it would be closed from 1:30 until 2 for lunch was also annoying, in those circumstances.

Once I had my prescription, I looked at the weather info on my phone, and decided I could stop at the supermarket on the way home for milk and cider without overheating. I'm glad I did, because Whole Foods also have good Quebec strawberries today. I bought one quart, that being as much as I could carry along with the milk and cider. So I am home, sitting in an air conditioned room, and have taken my morning pills (including the prescription I just picked up). It was I think 78F/25C when I left, and 81F/27 C by the time I got home.

Given the weather forecast, I may be staying close to home for the next couple of days.

With the heat advisories we have been having here in Colorado Springs, I been trying to limit my errands to what I can do in the early mornings. Had to get fasting blood work drawn this morning.

I've mostly been alternating between getting out early and doing things, and days when even that is problematic for me, and I'm asking cattitude and adrian_turtle, both of whom are more heat-tolerant than I am, to do things that require leaving the apartment.

Monday was pleasantly cool, so I hopped on the bus to Harvard Square to restock on ice cream, on a day when I was reasonably confident that it wouldn't melt on the trip home in an insulated bag.

I wonder if the CVS lunch closure is a nationwide thing ? I know that due to intentional short staffing here, they are all closed from 1:30-2:00. I keep intending to change pharmacies, but the CVS is a 10-15 minute walk from my house.

I don't know if it's nationwide, but it's not just that CVS, it's all the branches around here.

They are required to close when they don't have a registered pharmacist on duty, and they are required to give the pharmacist a lunch break. Thus.

Many of the grocery store pharmacies around here have 3 pharmacists on, which avoids that issue. But they don't have drive thru so I am, at present, stuck with the awful that is CVS.
