Last week, when I had Andrea freeze my wart, we agreed that I shouldn't start using the salicylic acid pads until the irritated skin on my finger healed. Given that, I also made a follow-up appointment for more freezing one week later instead of two.

The irritation improved for a few days, although slowly, and then started getting worse: the redness returned, and then it started to hurt. So, I applied a lidocaine and aloe vera gel, which did in fact ease the pain. Yesterday, Adrian looked at it and said that it seemed to be slightly swollen and might be infected. Fortunately, I already had an appointment for this afternoon, and it didn't seem like the sort of thing that couldn't wait a day.

When I saw the doctor, I described this and asked her to examine my finger. She confirmed Adrian's hunch that I have an infection, and prescribed an antibiotic ointment, then zapped the wart as originally planned.

Since I was in Davis Square on Friday afternoon, I took the bus over to the little year-round farmers market in Harvard Square. There were only a couple of vendors there, but they included the one I was specifically looking for, Vallicenti Pasta Farms. I bought two packages of their carrot-chickpea ravioli (one of their few nondairy options), then walked over to the other stall, picked up a jug of apple cider, and looked around for the vendor. The man who'd sold me the pasta came over, explained that the other person had stepped away, and took my money for the pasta as well.

Also, I would have had a long wait for the 96 bus from Davis Square, so I walked down to Mass Ave. and got the 77 instead. It was a nice day, though cool, and the walk from Davis to Mass Ave was pleasant, past gardens with spring flowers, including a lot of periwinkle.

Ouch. I hope your finger heals up soon. I wonder if I would like carrot/chickpea ravioli. I love reading about your trips to the markets.
