I got my hair cut this afternoon wearing a KN95 mask with earloops, which was less comfortable than my usual N95s. When I left the hairdresser, I removed the annoying mask, but instead of putting the better-fitting mask back on immediately, or waiting a few minutes for the bus, I left the mask in my bag and walked down the Somerville Community Path. That's an interesting walk even at the end of winter, because there are a lot of small-scale art installations, more than there were a few years ago.
When I got to Davis, I put the mask on to go into a pizza place and buy lunch, which I ate sitting at a table in Davis Square. It was cool enough that before the pandemic, I'd have eaten indoors, but there are far worse things than sitting outside with a slice of pizza on a sunny afternoon. Also, sitting at a table was definitely nicer than sitting on a bench with the pizza box next to me.
Part of why I'm going to Somerville, still, for haircuts is that this hairdresser has figured out how to cut my hair while I'm wearing a mask, and puts one on herself when I ask her to. The staff there are mostly going unmasked, but but there's a sign at the entrance reminding clients that we can ask the stylist to wear a mask.
