I don't know if these count as "calf-high" in how people talk about boots, but they are definitely boots, rather than snow sneakers.
Last year I tried mail-ordering actual boots, and had to return them, even though the website claimed that they were wide and had wider calves than average.
My previous boot-shopping experience has included the year I asked a salesperson for "every boot you have in seven and a half wide," her seeming dubious because she expected that to be a lot of different shoes, and then coming back with three. Plus too many shoe stores that had absolutely nothing in my nominal size, including one salesman who acted as though it was unreasonable for me to think the store would carry wide shoes.
