A recent poll found that 90% of Americans agree on something: we are experiencing a mental health crisis.

This via the Dr. B newsletter, which agrees with them (as do I) and pointed out that it is very unusual to get 90% agreement on anything.

I've been wondering just how much damage Covid and lockdowns, social distancing and all that guff when combined with fear have actually done to mental health and I fear it's a huge amount. You may recall that masks almost sent me over the edge.

I think another piece of this is that the pandemic also made it harder to get mental health care, for many people and many different conditions (including but not limited to fewer inpatient beds).

I imagine a lot of people are finding that the pandemic, with its worry, increased isolation, and polarization, is exacerbating any mental health issues they already had, whether previously acknowledged or not.

Also, there seems to be a greater willingness to admit we’re not-okay.
