I have nothing coherent to say about yesterday's news. Also, posting will be intermittent until we unpack my desktop computer (I'm doing this on a shared laptop that is mostly
cattitude's). So:
We now have an air-conditioned apartment, in the nick of time*.
adrian_turtle looked online and found an installer quickly. I made a phone call Wednesday, and an appointment for Thursday afternoon. He called to say he was running late, and offered either 9:15 or the following day, around four. I took the next-day option and released the cats (who were sut in, with me, in a room we aren't going to put an A/C in.
Yesterday we took the T to Copley for the farmers market, getting there early enough to buy things for lunch, bring them home, and eat them. An hour or so later, I was wiped enough that Adrian advised me to take a covid test (it was negative). The guy then called and texted to tell us he was delayed; the last text included "I hate the MBTA."
He finally got here a little after 8; I hid with the cat, again, while
cattitude and Adrian talked to him. The installation took longer than anyone expected, because the frame of at least one of the windows we wanted an air conditioner was warped. Adrian eventually brought me some apple frittata, rather than waiting for family dinner. Her A/C was installed first, and I went in there to keep cool. We went to bed around 11, and the job finished around 11:30.
My right wrist still isn't doing well, and my first OT session isn't until a week from Wednesday; this is another reason why Cattitude and Adrian are doing what feels to me like much more of the unpacking work than I am. But we work with the actual humans we have, not the optimally healthy ones we'd like to be, or even the also-imaginary bodies that are always as capable as on our best days.

But yes, we had put this off (because moving is chaotic) long enough that we were worried that we wouldn't get the air conditioners into the windows before last weekend's heat. Definitely someone to keep in mind for the future.
