Mostly for my reference: When I woke up this morning my right wrist was hurting, before and while I took off the brace that I've been sleeping in for almost three weeks.
I am going to try a few days sleeping without the brace, while trying to rest the wrist, use NSAIDs, and apply heat and probably ice, before calling and asking for a referral to an orthopedist or occupational therapy.

I've had some problems over time with one of my own wrists, it took some damage years ago on the job and had a piece of machinery dropped on it that did some permanent damage (all I got was a weeks workman's comp and the company paying for the doctor visit and the brace I wore for a couple of weeks until I could write with it again).
Arthritis has set into the joint over the past 20 years and so I keep a light brace to immobilize it when it acts up. I was lucky I didn't break any bones at the time.
