Whenever I hear anyone saying "fingers crossed" these days, it reminds me that carandol spent all day with his fingers crossed for the Apollo 13 astronauts, which is one of those weird crossover things between SF and fantasy, except real.

Next time you're in these parts, I'll lend you MY wand, to wield in interviews so that the interviewer can cop a clue. I made a rather over-the-top wand for a one-act play I was in last summer. I don't have any special powers myself, but that sucker weighs enough to enlighten the ungrammatical several times over. It is the very Louisville Slugger of fairy godmother wants.
