Social: London, Friday 20 September

The plan is to meet for lunch on Friday at midday, in the forecourt in front of King's Cross station, by the Henry Moore sculpture. liv informs me that "There's only one of those so hopefully we won't lose each other in the busy station."

Lunch will be in a nearby gastropub liv knows, but she says the status is easier to find. If you'd like to join me, please comment or email vr@panix.com. I will try to check email and maybe even DW while I'm in England, but am not sure how much I'll be online after Monday night.

I will be borrowing my mother's mobile phone while I'm there, so a text or call to 07879 194987 on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday should reach me. Please flag it with something like "this is for Vicki" or "Hi Vicki" to reduce confusion.

ETA: I may be using my own phone for texting; that's +1-646-721-4041, please text only, I get texts free but they'll charge me 25 cents/minute for voice roaming.

If you are interested and think you might be there, please let me know; I'd rather be keeping an eye out for someone who doesn't make it, than have someone show up unexpectedly. If I know to expect you, we can wait a few minutes, or sort last-minute things out by text.

After lunch, the plan is ice cream and the British Library, not necessarily in that order.

That would be nice, but I don't think Brussels is in the near future. cattitude, adrian_turtle, and I have been talking about going to Paris together, but we have been talking about it for years, and it's still aspirational rather than planned. (Me and cattitude living in Boston rather than Seattle or New York makes it a bit more plausible, but that's not the same as finding a time that works for everyone.)

To be specific, the pub I had in mind is the Betjeman, which is difficult to find because it's sort of half inside St Pancras station and the entrance is really not at all obvious. I've just called them and they assure me there is step-free access to the pub via a lift from the station (I asked because my default way in from KX involves a flight of stairs.)

If we're going to be a party of four or more should I possibly book a table? I'll wait a couple of days and see who else replies to the message.

Also I'm not massively attached to the Betjeman, if anyone objects to it I'll pick somewhere else instead.
