redbird | I will be visiting London

I'm going to be in London next month, mostly to visit my mother, who didn't feel like making the trip to the States right now, but will also have time for other socializing.

I have lost track of my British friends' schedules. Anyone who will or might be around London and have time to get together from September 18-24, please comment below, or send me a PM if you'd rather not tell the world your plans. I will probably also be emailing (or even phoning or texting) people, but I'm still trying to surface mentally as well as practically from last month's house move.

I will be staying at my mother's place in Finchley, and happy to take the Tube to meet people. I'm definitely up for socializing in a restaurant, pub, or someone's home if you're so inclined, or for exhibits and other activities that don't involve too much walking or spending all day on my feet. (I like walking, but these days my hips limit both distance and walking speed, in ways that can be irritating for people who can still walk quickly.)

I'm going to be in Loughborough most of September & while that is not very close to London I was thinking of going in for a bit at some point. It would be funny if our first real life meeting after all these years was in London!

Ooh, excitement! I'd very much like to see you, and I can fairly easily get to Finchley. Things might be more difficult if I have a job by mid-September, but then I'd have a job which would make lots of other things better, and there's still evenings.

Oh, excellent. There are indeed still evenings; I'm not as much of a night person as I used to be, but I might be able to make the time zone difference work in my favor. (There is one Boston-London flight that isn't a red-eye, which I'm taking even though it means getting up annoyingly early.)
