We got out quickly this morning (up at nine, both showered, dressed, breakfasted, and bags packed, and out before 10: this would have been quick when we were in practice and not eating breakfast at home), and headed to the gym.
I did about an hour of a good workout, then bailed because of pain in my leg while doing an upper-body exercise and using that leg only for balance. My best guess is that I overdid the leg presses or the hip adduction and/or abduction.
Cardio, 34 minutes, top heart rate 144
Seated leg press, 200 pounds, 2 sets of 12 (did that right away to squeeze in on that machine before "xpressline" hours put it off limits)
Assisted chin-up, max assist: 10, 5 [break while I did hip things], another 10
Hip adduction, 110 pounds, 3 sets of 13
Hip abduction, 100 pounds, 13, 6, 13 (1st 2 sets back-to-back)
Calf machine, 30 pounds, 3 sets of 12
Bench press, 50 pounds, 14, 12--stopped because of pain in my left thigh. I figured that if my leg hurt doing this, it was time to end the workout. I might go tomorrow and fill in what I missed today; more likely I'll wait until Sunday (Saturday is NYRSF work weekend. Okay, both days are, but I generally go on Saturday).
This time I skipped the end-of-workout stretches on purpose.
Grabbed a quick lunch at a Chinese restaurant near my gym, and took the bus that short distance, rather than going down to Chinatown, which means more walking and especially stairs. Home via drugstore and supermarket; grabbed two ibuprofen for the muscles and a cup of tea for the rest of me.
