More money grumbles

My beloved cattitude lost his ATM card today, and the person who found it is not honest. The bank says he'll get most of the money back, but it may take weeks. We really don't need this right now.

Jane dropped her debit card a few years ago, and it was the whole weekend before she noticed. She got the money back, so that's good. Ever since then, though, we've both taken to writing SEE PHOTO ID in big Sharpie letters on the signature line. And for a while I was insisting the people check the signature.

I've done this at the advice of American Express after the one and only time my credit card was stolen. I've found few people actually bother to read what it says or ask for ID. I always make a point of thanking those few that do.
