I had a very nice birthday dinner with
cattitude and
adrian_turtle last night: they took me to Legal Seafood and I had lobster bisque and grilled Arctic char. Every so often I notice Arctic char, order it, and am reminded of how much I like it; and then I go back to indulging in shellfish when I'm treating myself in a restaurant, and salmon, tuna, and white fishes like sole and cod for cooking at home. (It's all good, but this time around I consciously noticed how long it had been since I thought of Arctic char.)
Then we went home, and Cattitude and I had cheesecake for dessert. When I saw Adrian on Monday, she suggested we might walk over to Tosci's for dessert, but Monday was still pleasantly if unseasonably warm, and yesterday was cold and windy. It may not have been too cold for ice cream, but it was too cold to want to walk from Kendall to Central Square.
Also, I have two "loyalty" cards from companies that give me a free treat for my birthday. From JP Licks I can have a free sundae any time in a 30-day period that started about a week before my birthday. The Starbucks is one free menu item, food or drink, but it had to be claimed in a three-day period. So I stopped off Thursday after doing voter registration and got a hot chocolate, which is the thing I like from the large Starbucks range of heated milk drinks. Some warmer day soon I'll get my hot fudge sundae, maybe at the JP Licks in Brookline Village, which has better seating than the one in Davis Square. (I want to take my parka to the Zipper Hospital, and the JP Licks is nearby. Also Brookline Booksmith.)
