[livejournal.com profile] numbat keeps sending me feathers, and I'm a lazybones tonight, so I'm posting this appreciation and question to, I hope, make up for not having sent a thank-you note.

Four large ones showed up last week with a note saying they were too big to send with an issue of Jabberwocky, and I share Numbat's preference for the tawny frogmouth rom that set. Despite that note, I was startled, halfway through reading said Jabberwocky, to see a gray-and-white-striped feather lying on my desk, clearly having fallen out of the fanzine. Having finished with the fanzine, I took another look in the envelope, and found two more feathers; all three seem to have come from raptors.

Now you mention it I recall slipping some feathers in with an issue of Jabberwocky. Was it issue #2 or the issue I accidently claimed was #2 but which is really #3 though? Probably the latter because I also meant to put in a note explaining where those feathers came from but didn't. You'll be interested to learn they aren't raptor feathers at all but are from the Bush Stone Curlew or Bush Thicknee (basic details here: http://www.austmus.gov.au/factsheets/curlew.htm). I'm pleased you like the feathers. I have access to so many it would be a waste not to have somebody I can send some too.
