Do fairy godmothers get paid, and if so, is it a salaried position, or piecework?

Surely fairy godmothers get paid in fairy gold? Though I'm not sure who pays them - maybe the Creator of All Things in their particular universe. Or maybe they are rewarded by the person they have made Stuff Happen for, once they have married the handsome prince or been restored to their kingdom.

I suspect that there's a paycheck involved in whatever Cosmo & Wanda (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Fairly_OddParents) do for a living.
