I took a short lunch today so I could leave work early and get to the gym before it got crowded. The number of people at the gym seems to be back down to the level it was at last fall; the surprise is that it took this long. (The January surge lasted through February.) It was a pretty good workout. Also, there was sunlight coming in the window when I was using a machine near the western edge of the gym, and it was still light out when I left.was done and walking to the subway
Cardio, 20 minutes plus two cooldown, top heart rate 157
Leg press, 280 pounds, 3 sets of 15
Chest press, 55 pounds, 12; 50 pounds, 10
Calf raises, 70 pounds, 15, 15, 20
Wrist curl, 30 pounds, 15; 25 pounds, 15
Balance ~fly, 55 pounds, 15 with each foot forward; 40 pounds, 13 with left foot forward. (The handles attached this time were not only significantly heavier than the ones I like, they were awkward, in both cases because they're metal and heavy plastic, instead of largely fabric. I'd set the machine for 50 pounds first, but it felt more like 55, and I think that was actual weight of handles as well as the way they got in the way of some of how I would ordinarily move.)
Crunches, 3 sets of 30
Back arches, 3 sets of 17
Tree, 5 sets of {3 on each leg}
Balance lateral raise, 2.5 pounds 1 hand, 3 pounds the other, 2 sets of 15 (switched hands between sets)
Balance squats, 2 sets of 15
Biceps curls, 10 pounds each hand, 2 sets of 20
Hip adduction, 95 pounds, 2 sets of 13
Hip abduction, 85 pounds, 10; 70 pounds, 10
