At the moment, I am gaily adding large numbers of people to my Facebook "friends" list, ranging from good friends who have turned up there, to people I hadn't seen or heard from in a decade or more, but am well disposed to. I may or may not do anything with this, but that's been true of Facebook all along.
I also followed a link to a Wikipedia page, as one does; saw trivial vandalism; and decided to log in and revert it (not something I can do as anonymous). In the course of that, I looked at my userinfo. I had forgotten that I have a two-digit user number at Wikipedia. (I think the only person I met there and am still in any sort of touch with is
a_d_medievalist, who recognized me on Making Light years later.)
Also, this got me a salmonbot that started with "Hey, Jimmy!" which is either even less sensible than usual, or a programmed response to the word "Wikipedia."
