Thus far today, I have:
- Written a five-page apazine, and sent it off hours before the deadline, then used Paypal to send the OE money for printing and postage.
- Gone for a pleasant walk with
cattitude, during which we saw a falcon sitting on a tree branch and spent some time looking at ice on the river and mud flats. The temperature was up around freezing, with almost no wind, and the clear sky gave everything that brightness you get when snow and ice are reflecting lots of sunlight. This is a refreshing change from days when we've done absolute minimum to-and-from-subway walking in the mornings.
- Downloaded a Postscript viewer, so I can read papers I need for my current research project. That took longer than it should have, because I kept getting error messages on the straightforward install, and had to do a behind-the-barn thing, downloading a program to unzip files instead of using the recent .exe Ghostscript installers.
- Read a bit more of a Ken MacLeod novel.
- Taken a bath, and not been molested while bathing by
julian_tiger, who has been interested in the bubble bath before.
- Had pleasant and somewhat productive IM conversations with
adrian_turtle,
roadnotes, and L WINOLJ.
- Drunk 2.7 cups of tea, poured out the remaining .3 cup because it had gotten cold, and brewed and started on a fourth cup.
- Spent much of the morning feeling fretful about deadlines. Sending the zine off has helped, though the other two deadlines are still there.
- Gotten a package of tank tops and sports bras from Dharma Trading, which I will dye bright colors, re-delivered, and been glad I'd paid the slightly higher charge for shipping via the postal service rather than UPS. The USPS delivers on Saturday for no extra charge, which has turned out to be very useful. (Also, their voice-recognition system for scheduling redelivery, while slower than calling my local post office used to be, actually pronounced "Rosenzweig" correctly. I am impressed.) I paid the extra two dollars because I really don't trust UPS, not for Saturday delivery. (When I ordered this package, I wasn't working in an office, so could have arranged to be home during the week if necessary.)
