redbird: closeup of me drinking tea, in a friend's kitchen (Default)

I seem to have lost my plokta.con badge, most likely either at the Minicon dead dog or left in my hotel room. I called the hotel today and they don't have it, but it's the kind of thing a housekeeper could easily and plausibly have thrown away. (This is irritating because it's the most readable con badge I've ever had--that's why there were so many of them floating around Minicon that people Thursday night thought it was the Minicon badge.)

[livejournal.com profile] dot_cattiness is discussing whether it's rude to the cook to salt your food before tasting it, and I'm again wondering why it seems to be perfectly accepted to pepper an untasted dish. This is a peeve of mine: restaurants that won't buy enough peppermills to just leave them on the table, and tell the servers to offer fresh-ground pepper as soon as they put the plates down. They always seem surprised when I answer the offer with "I don't know, I haven't tasted it yet."

I was feeling wobbly and didn't go to the gym today. I did do about 50 5-pound bicep curls with each arm; not much compared to my usual, but it's something.

I'm up past my bedtime again.
