Am I doing this wrong?

I'm not sure whether I misunderstood or misremembered the instructions for this project, or if the problem is in the underlying material(textbooks, in this case) that the data refer to rather than in what I'm doing with the data. Unfortunately, I'm feeling somewhat sleep-deprived (adrian_turtle was right that I should have snuggled back in with her and panda, instead of leaving them alone there, but the need not to sleep on my right shoulder got in the way, as did my general habit of waking around 8), and my boss isn't in yet to ask.

Update: It was a combination. I was trying to interpret some notes on part one of the project, already completed, in a way that would apply them to part 2. And there really do seem to be some problems with the underlying data.
