On our way to work this morning, [livejournal.com profile] cattitude and I walked through the park. We started with the usual route, and when we got to the water I saw that the barge I'd spotted last night was still there. Cattitude wanted a closer look, so we detoured slightly, and got to watch a small tugboat (or equivalent--not the big tugs the harbor pilots use) motor over, connect to the barge, and prepare to move it. Definitely a construction barge, complete with cherry-picker: it looked much more plausible by full morning light. Best guess is that it had drifted away from its proper moorings sometime yesterday afternoon, and they'd decided to leave it there until morning.

We also saw a deep black swallow-tail butterfly, and lots of large dragonflies darting and shining in the sunlight over the soccer field.

I got a good amount done at work, including coming across some printing errors: fortunately, the entire goal of this project is to produce an improved second printing, so these can and will be fixed. By noon I'd decided that it was the sort of gray day when looking out the window wouldn't be sufficient, as it is when I can see sunshine on the river, and I had to get out. So I hopped on the subway and had lunch in Chinatown: nourishing, tasty, and quick, and with an unlimited Metrocard the trip costs nothing but time.

My boss has no objection to my leaving a bit early on Friday, so I can get to Boston at a reasonable hour.

Today I did get to the gym, and had a satisfying workout. Overheard while doing my mat exercises: "I don't know what 'lesbian licking wasabi' is, but I'm fairly sure you can't say that either." [livejournal.com profile] cattitude and I were on the same A train home, and decided that we would go out for dinner in the neighborhood rather than going home and sending for takeout food. We went to the Park Terrace Bistro, and had Moroccan food and then chocolate souffles for dessert. A pleasant unplanned evening, though I have sore muscles and unhappy knees.
