Memory is fallible, and it may be worth checking email archives and other external records before asking about something I've already been told.
No harm done, in this case, except that it's been a long week, and I got upset at not remembering something that I felt I should know. The person I asked was entirely willing to answer, and in fact apologized in case zie hadn't made things clear. One slightly disconcerting thing is that the emails in question included a comment from this person to the effect of "I thought I'd told you this" [presumably in person rather than in email]
Humans are weird, myself decidedly among them.
