Another angle to the last post: I walked in the park with
cattitude this morning (he was on his way to work), then back home. When I crossed the street to my building, I saw a fine cat, black with a few white spots, sitting on the windowsill, and went over to say hi. It turned out this was not the shop cat, but another cat who looks similar. He sniffed me, I stroked him a bit, and I had a nice conversation with the woman in the kitchen. The cat's name is Robin, the woman is Jill, and we chatted about cats and the neighborhood, the park and the school system. She asked me if I was German, and I said "Well, German Jewish, does it show?" Apparently I'd said "Ja" (which was probably my pronunciation of "yea") several times, and she notices such things; in particular, her husband is German, so she's alert to that. Nice human, nice cat, a fine few minutes of conversation.
