I've sent off a letter, with an updated-for-freelancing version of my resume, to a potential client in Japan. This is something I found via the copyediting email list; she's looking for people to work on scientific journals. I think I have a reasonable chance of getting some work from this.

You might already be familiar with it, but if not, check out the job listings at Publishers Lunch (http://www.mediabistro.com/publisherslunch/joblistings/?igid=5). They list mostly in-house positions, but also some free-lance gigs, including ones writing copy for a series of travel guides for Avalon Travel. Good luck, by the way, and feel free to e-mail me at dabrooklynLJ@yahoo.com if you have questions about any particular publishers, especially smaller ones, as it's with them that I work, for the most part.
