Every so often I hit a sentence in this job that makes no sense. [livejournal.com profile] cattitude suggested I preserve this one for history:

It is a precious treasure as well as rare opportunity in our professional life to work together with leaders of the industry and borrow marrows from master-hands for each of us.


The problem phrase is in red.

I thought it was a literal statement about getting a kind of squash from the neighbour's garden, where a really good gardener grows a better crop.

As a meat metaphor for the essence or most important part it seems pretty well established in English, though, so I suppose that's the more likely meaning.
