I had a (routine) brain and cervical spine MRI today, with and without contrast. This was at Beth Israel Deaconess where my neurologist works, and I was mostly pleased: they have signs up encouraging people to mask, and while many of the staff members had let their masks slip down, they had masks, and I didn't have to ask them to pull the masks up, they did it as soon as they saw me in my N95.

The MRI went fine, even though they didn't do the usual "this next one will be n minutes" before each section. They also wanted me to use their earplugs intead of my own, but when i told the tech that these had worked better for me, she asked their decibel rating, so she could compare the two. Both kinds are rated at 29 dB, so they agreed that mine were fine.

For no apparent reason, by the time I got home my left little finger was painfully sore, with the last joint bent more than usual. It hasn't been entirely right in years, but it's usually just a little bent or stiff, not painful, and I have no idea what triggered this. The finger was OK when I was done with the MRI, and started hurting while I was in the Lyft on the way home. but I decided at dinner that it had been a long day, and I wasn't feeling great, and skipped the inhaler and flutter valve tonight as well. I wasn't worried about being able to hold and use the inhaler and flutter valve, but about aggravating my finger in the course of coughing, grabbing tissues, and such.
