On this week's Scintillation Maritime Noon, I talked about my trip to Hong Kong, back in 1997.
Scintillation Maritime Noon is a very local version of a weekly radio program, on which the hosts talk to people about a wide variety of topics. I gather that while some of the guests are people the host knows, and invites, others just happen to be in the building at the right time and willing to talk about model railroads, or jigsaw puzzles, or chocolate cookies, or hats, or...
So I spent 15 minutes talking a bit about how I decided to go to Hong Kong in 1997, and some of the things Lise and I did there, and when I handed the mic over to Arete for their segment, I realized that I could cheerfully have spent 15 minutes talking about a different set of things I did in Hong Kong. A pleasant amble down, or near, memory lane.
Very local in this case means that it's on a Discord server, and this week there were 16 people in the voice channel, including the host and three guests. On the other hand, we were in (among other places) Boston, Montreal, Toronto, and Chicago.
The CBC program is at noon Atlantic time. Our version is at 8 p.m. Mondays (Montreal time), which is noon somewhere, but that somewhere is mostly a lot of open ocean.
