Because I was losing track of what emails I had answered, yesterday and today I've been tidying up my email (I'm using Thunderbird). This is useful, I know that, but it feels like a lot of effort for little if any result.
A couple of days before that, I did a similar thing with the papers on my literal, physical desktop. I have a stack of things to shred, and some things have gone in either trash or recycling. The desk is still somewhat cluttered, and more needs doing.
I'm noting this here partly so I'll remember, because both the desk and the email are still messy and cluttered enough that it's easy to forget that I have improved things.
Even at this incomplete stage, there's less dust and loose fur, and it will be easier to find things, physical and electronic.
