We are missing a cat

Our cat Kaja seems to have gotten out of our apartment some time Friday. We didn't miss her right away, and then spent a bunch of time looking around the basement -- both the finished basement that's part of our apartment, and the unfinished part with the laundry machines and boiler -- before concluding that she definitely wasn't there. By then it was fairly late, so we decided we'd deal with the problem the next morning (assuming the cat didn't turn up).

Saturday morning I talked to a very nice woman at Belmont Animal Control, who asked me for information to put on their Facebook page. We spent some time yesterday ringing neighbors' doorbells, and putting up some "lost cat" posters. No response yet; I went over to adrian's Saturday as originally planned, rather than sit home watching cattitude fret and play Civ.

The plan for today is to catch up on stuff we'd been going to do Friday and Saturday, and when it cools off a bit cattitude will go out and put up more "lost cat" posters. (He deals with heat a lot better than I do, but isn't immune to it either.)

We also left messages at a couple of local vets, and Waltham and Watertown Animal Control (those on the advice of the Belmont animal control person), and I called our vet in Somerville, because it couldn't hurt and I know they're open on weekends.

Small cat update

I got a call this afternoon from someone who does animal rescue in Newton, offering to lend us cameras and a humane trap. We chatted some and she came over this evening, with one camera (and the promise of more when someone gets back from Nantucket), a Hav-a-heart trap, and some more advice, which included "expect this to take several days if not longer." We put food, water, and a piece of clothing that has some of cattitude's scent on it, hoping they will attract Kaja.

In the meantime, I am taking care of cattitude, and helping him take care of our other cat, Molly (they're a bonded pair, adopted together because the Humane Society didn't want to separate them).
