I was supposed to be here last weekend, when [personal profile] rysmiel had both Friday and Monday off from work, but I was still dealing with a lingering cough; even if I'd been well enough to enjoy a visit, it seemed anti-social to inflict that cough on a busful of strangers for several hours.

So, a shorter visit, fitting around rysmiel's work schedule: I got here yesterday evening, we had a very nice sashimi dinner at Kashima and a pleasant evening at home afterwards. Today I am going to take it easy, buy some interesting chocolate and maybe other nice things at Marche Atwater, and not much else. Heavy rain is predicted, and while it's clearly spring in Somerville it still looks like winter here, so walking around on a chilly day in the rain has little appeal.

Also, I have been up since too early in the morning; I don't think the sound of rysmiel typing would have awakened me, but once I stirred randomly the noise was enough to keep me awake. (rysmiel's current work hours have them getting up early on workdays, odd as that seems.)

As I had hoped, the drugstore reading glasses are good enough for reading on the bus for several hours without either eyestrain or motion sickness, but I will be glad to pick up my prescription glasses next week. (I finished Jonathan Cabal, the Necromancer, which is weird but good, reread Seanan McGuire's Discount Armageddon, and read her Wayward Children novella In an Absent Dream and [personal profile] tkingfisher's Toad Words and Other Stories, which is very good; I particularly liked the title story.
