I am in Somerville, visiting
adrian_turtle for a few days. There's plenty of snow on the ground, but I flew out here the day after the last snowstorm: a nice smooth flight, and I lucked into a window seat with nice views of mountains, rivers, and eventually Lake Michigan. The person next to me had noted that she'd seen nothing on the way out, or in her few days in Seattle, so I encouraged her to lean over shortly after takeoff to see a volcano: not sure if it was Rainier, since I think we'd been flying north, but definitely a pretty, snow-covered mountain cone.
We're having a deliberately quiet time--or as quiet as is compatible with Adrian preparing to move back to Arlington. So, she was putting books in boxes yesterday, and my role was just to help tape them closed, which works better with two people. She is doing a good job of taking care of me, meaning encouraging me to rest, ice the thumb, wear my splint, and not do a lot of the things that I would normally help with, like chopping vegetables or a share of the dishes. I think the wrist/thumb problem is improving, but the regimen of rest and NSAIDs also means I would take longer to notice if it's not.
P.S. If any local friends of Adrian have spare time or boxes, she could use moving help.
