As expected, the person who is over the Proofreading Department returned today (after being on maternity leave starting about two days after she hired me). Or so I'm told: I didn't see her, or hear any report beyond the simple words "Karen is back." So, for the nonce, I still have a job.

Since it was being just like any Monday, I went to the gym, as on any Monday. I got there and couldn't find my little bar-coded gym membership card. Fortunately, I still have the old photo ID in my wallet, and they were happy to check me in with that. I asked after working out, and nobody has turned in the other; that means it was almost certainly lost on the railroad while I was taking out my ticket. There might be a Lost and Found that I can get to reasonably; if not, I'll pay $5 for a replacement. If I don't get the replacement by Saturday, I'll have to use a different branch of my gym next week: one of the many annoying effects of the Republican Convention being in town is that I won't be able to get into the branch I usually go to, which is in a hotel just north of Times Square, without the scannable membership card and a "government-issued photo ID." I asked, though, and I'll be fine on 86th Street or in the Village (or, I assume, Harlem or Downtown Brooklyn or…).

Just a bare five-minute cardio warmup (HR up to 151); the Xpressline, okay except I had trouble with the biceps thing, and I want to add five pounds to vertical chest next time; two sets of crunches and one of back arches; stretches.
