I went to visit Soren Saturday night; overall, he's improving steadily from visit to visit. His right arm is still not working properly, and he often has to search for words, but overall, his condition seems much improved, and we had a nice conversation; he has a collection of toy elephants by his bedside, and he asked Velma to bring him games (which should further help his concentration) from home. From there, I went to a benefit for Soren featuring a group called System Noise; Sarah's- the lead singer- vocals swoop over a wonderfully precise rhythm section; highly recommended.

Also, Velma updates: Soren's doing better every day. He can't really see or feel the progress, but I can, and have been telling him what I see. In yesterday's physical therapy session, he stood up several times, for about a minute each time, doing things like squats and stretches with his good side, and both the neurologist and the physical therapist noted increases in strength on his right side. Still, it's hard for him.

We also spent some much-needed time just holding each other; my skin doesn't feel quite as raw and ragged today as it has been.

Today,I meet with his medical team, and discuss the technicalities of his prognosis, then probably talk with the social worker about next steps.
