Back in the spring, my company told us all to "save the date" for a company boatride. A few weeks ago, they sent out the invitation: gathering at 11:30 on Wednesday, August 6, for a noon departure, a few hours on the East River, food and drink, probably singing waitstaff, and socializing.
Yesterday, there was another email, canceling the outing because of the poor economy. I've been assured by my boss that there's nothing actually to worry about, but the company that owns ours, and wants to sell us, is trying to make the bottom line look good. So, no boat trip: instead, they'll be bringing in some kind of lunch (probably something easy and uninteresting like six-foot heroes) and giving us the afternoon off.
[Poll #1229178]
[I should note that I am not going to go to the dentist and the tattoo artist on the same afternoon; either can be combined with other things, within constraints of geography and other people's scheduling.]
