redbird: me with purple hair (purple)
( Jun. 20th, 2008 07:23 pm)
Worked until 1, then went down to Chinatown for lunch, and back up to midtown and the gym. There was an annoying delay getting in: the hotel the gym is in is doing renovations, meaning one elevator to the lobby (instead of the usual escalators), which is a bottleneck even when it's working. I'd almost decided to blow it off and go home when they swapped in one of the elevators that goes to the office floors. The workout itself went reasonably well, and then I hit an "enough" halfway through my mat work. I am trying not to push myself too hard (especially after being out late Wednesday and then not sleeping well last night either), so I got up, stretched, showered, and came home, without stopping at the drugstore. That much workout was good for me; more might not have been. The point is to be healthy and strong, not to rack up numbers or complete an arbitrary list of exercises (or even a non-arbitrary one I have evolved for myself). Not pushing too hard also meant not trying for a very long cardio session, and being somewhat prudent about the amount I lifted.
