Also today (five things connected by chronology)

• I helped some out-of-towners on the subway, in part by switching to my very minimal French after being thanked in that language (fortunately, one bit of French I do know is the word for next, and the station she wanted was the next (and last) stop on the 6;


• watched someone teach a stranger how to tie a bowtie [the tie in question belonged to the instructor, not the learner], in the course of our various lunches;


• got some good news from my boss;


• have not packed for the weekend;


• followed a suggestion on anonymousclaire and made a small donation to the Alzheimer's Research Foundation, with a note that it was in honor of Pratchett
