Prompted by a recent post by roadnotes, cattitude and I went down to the local hardware/housewares to get a window blind for the bedroom.

We needed bits of hardware to mount it in the window, and next to them were coils of wire. I now have 50 feet of 20-gauge copper wire, to put with the 24-gauge and make some wandering wire stuff. [Maybe not right away, but at least I have the supplies.]

Then we discovered that we had the wrong size of window blind, because Cattitude had carefully measured the windows, and then misremembered the answer. So we went back, they cut it down by an inch, and we tried again.

It turned out that we needed smaller screws, and neither of us wanted to go back a third time. So it's going to wait a couple of days, I think: the local hardware shop doesn't do Sundays, and I don't think we're going to go beyond Inwood tomorrow.
