I saw a pulmonologist yesterday morning. He and his nurse ran assorted tests, including breathing into their equipment, a nebulizer, breathing in specific ways while he listened to different parts of my chest with a stethoscope, and X-rays, and asked a bunch of questions. The conclusion is that I don't have asthma--which I had rather thought, but it's well worth it to be sure.

He did say that if I have another episode like last Thanksgiving, of the serious breathing problem which turned out to be a lung infection, he'd like to see me during it.

There's an odd feeling of exclusion at not being part of a meeting that is compulsory for almost everyone in the office, but that they seem to wish they could skip, because I'm a temp.

It's definitely connected to the fact that I would like to be a full-time employee, with security and benefits, even if it meant sitting in the occasional large and tedious meeting.

What's the opposite of "those grapes are sour, anyway"? This is closer to "not that I want to eat the bitter fruit, but I would like to be at the table with you, even if the fruit is bitter."

One of you posted about Romanticism and What's Wrong with It [1] recently. I was going to reread that post, and see if I could connect it to [livejournal.com profile] rysmiel's recent post in the "you know you're reading my fiction if" and the comments there about finding romantic love incomprehensible. Because I'm trying to figure out if we're even using the same definitions.

If that was you, please wave. I thought it was [livejournal.com profile] mrissa or [livejournal.com profile] oursin but a quick skim of both journals doesn't find it.

[1] See 1066 and All That, in which one side was Right but Repulsive and the other was Wrong but Romantic. Or don't, I don't think it has anything to do with this.
